An article yesterday from GreenvilleOnline.com reported that Elizabeth Moffly, homeschooling mom and business woman, says she is running to be the new South Carolina education superintendent. Ms. Moffly, a resident of Awendaw, SC said Thursday that she is entering the Republican race in 2010.
This homeschooling mom of four, ages 14 to 20, is co-owner of Moffly Construction and has thrown her hat in the ring once again, she had an unsuccessful bid in 2006, hoping to win this time around. As South Carolina's highest education official, Ms. Moffly would advocate reducing the number of high school credits required for a SC diploma from 24 to 19. She also is an advocate for giving students college credit for classes they pass in high school.
Who will be running against her? Currently, the candidates include a University professor and an attorney.
