On last night's episode of "Heroes," Claire and Noah battled an invisible girl, Peter and Emma made more colorful music together, and Sylar's mind showed Matt who's boss while his body got even more lost. Plus, we're getting closer and closer to the return of Mohinder Suresh, so let's get this recap out of the way so we can all get pumped. Here we go:
At the Sullivan Bros. Carnival, the real Sylar is in bed dreaming of more images that aren't his, when he shapeshifts back into "Nathan." "Nathan" wakes up, see himself in a mirror and seems to know what's up. He quickly exits his trailer, but nearly bumps into Sam and Lydia, so he flies into the air out of sight.
Sam tells Lydia that he's off to fix the Claire fiasco that Becky caused, but Lydia wonders if maybe the Clair recruitment is now in vein. Surprisingly, Claire and Gretchen are right where we left them last week: in the abandoned slaughter house, where the sorority girls are trying to piece together why Becky can turn invisible and Claire can heal. Claire tells the girls that Becky must have drugged their water bottles and, with Gretchen's help, they buy the lame explanation.
Back at the dorm, Claire and Gretchen do their best research on Becky but come up with nothing. Claire tells Gretchen that she's going to investigate Becky's room, but Gretchen's uneasy about being left alone. Claire tries to calm her down and then heads to the sorority house, where her fellow slaughter house sisters have had their mind wiped by the Haitian. Noah sends the Haitian to protect Claire and Gretchen at the dorm and goes to search for evidence in Becky's room. Soon enough Becky arrives. Noah threatens to stun gun her if she doesn't show herself, so Becky obliges. She's fuming at Noah, which becomes pretty understandable when we flashback and see him kill her father back in his "bag em, tag em" days. Becky vowed to get back at Noah through Claire, but Noah says she won't be hurting anybody. Before the two can hash it out, the sorority sisters barge in (perfect timing, eh?) and Becky disappears.
When Claire and the Haitian get to the dorm, Gretchen has packed up and is ready to split. Claire tries to convince Gretchen to stay, but she's too frightened. The Haitian follows Gretchen to the airport, per Claire's request. But Claire isn't alone for more than a second before Sam knocks on the door. Sam says he's looking for Becky, but we all know he's really there to see Claire, which is why he goes through the whole spiel about how they're all special. Sam explains that he came to Claire and not Noah for a reason, because they both know what Noah would do if he heard Sam's story.
Just then, Noah walks in and Sam's pretty much floored. Noah throws one of Sam's compasses at him and asks him what his deal is. Sam reveals that all of his schenanigans began with Danko, who killed his brother (well, there's one mystery solved). He tries to convince Noah and Claire that all he wants is to find Becky and get her some help. But Noah isn't buying it, so he takes Sam down to the garage and cuffs him. But of course, Becky shows up to try to save her uncle and knocks out both Noah and Claire. Sam grabs Noah's stun gun and takes out Becky, giving Noah enough time to grab his real gun and aim for right for the mischief makers. But Claire pleads with Noah to let them go and they both escape back to the carnival. When they arrive, Sam promises to get Becky the revenge she deserves, but Lydia tells them they've got bigger problems now that Sylar's flown the coop.
Back in New York, there's been a massive accident and Peter's in an ambulance trying to save a man's life. The man can't wiggle his toes, but Peter uses the healing power he absorbed from Jeremy to help his patient. They arrive at a chaotic Mercy Hospital, where everyone is rushing to treat victims of the accident . Emma and Peter catch each other's glances, but Emma quickly removes herself from the floor as she's overwhelmed by the victims and unable to hear any of the hullabaloo.
Later she's approached by a doctor with a stretcher, who asks her to keep pressure on a victim's wound until someone can suture him up. Emma takes the matter into her own hands and does the sutures with ease, much to Peter's surprise. But he's too busy healing every patient in sight to commend her. Problem is, using the healing power makes him weaker. Emma comes to Peter's aid and suggests he go easy on his power. But Peter's more interested in talking about Emma's suture skills. Emma admits that she dropped out of medical school and walks away. But they're soon reunited when Emma find a little girl unconscious in a storage room. With Peter's help, she saves her life.
The two reconvene one last time after the chaos has settled around their beloved hospital piano. Emma reveals that she failed to save her nephew Christopher, who drowned while she was babysitting. Peter understands why Emma quit med school, but encourages her to reconsider. Emma thanks Peter for saving her life and the two have another tender moment as they play the colorful keys. Peter goes back home and disassembles his save wall when he gets a knock at the door. It's "Nathan," who tells Peter he's in some serious trouble.
Over in Los Angeles, Matt Parkman thought he had Sylar under control in his mind, but Sylar's taking his host body on a trip to New York to find Peter Petrelli, who was the last person he saw before he got trapped in Matt's head. But, Matt doesn't let Sylar get him on the plane. He gets himself to detained at the airport by placing his firearm in his carry on, much to Sylar's frustration. Once they're succesfully on the do not fly list, Sylar tries traveling by car, but Matt forces the car to drive over a piece of metal and get a flat tire.
Matt's enjoys playing the role of saboteur until Sylar manipulates Matt into killing an innocent man helping him fix the flat tire. Sylar continues to show Matt his dominance when he also threatens to kill a waitress at a diner. Only way he'll stop is if Matt finally gives in and tells him how he got trapped inside his mind. Matt's tired of the games and the deaths so gives Sylar the scoop. Sylar aggravated by the story--obviously. But he picks himself, I mean, Matt, up and makes plans to get his body back--and kill everyone responsible, of course. But when Matt/Sylar walk out of the diner, they're met by a hoard of police. Apparently Matt wrotte that he was going to kill everyone in the diner on a napkin and gave it to the waitress. Matt tells Sylar that he'd rather get himself killed than allow Sylar to return to his body. He certainly manages to get himself shot, that's for sure. But we all know that his plans to kill Sylar aren't going to be that easy.
Well, another "Heroes" episode has come and gone. What did you think of "Shadowboxing?" Is anyone going to miss Gretchen? What is going to happen now that "Nathan" is back in New York? And how many of you really knew that the Haitian's name was Rene?
