Updated: Photo tour and Memorial Day weekend events at Falls Church Coleman PowerSports.
The first of our “Local Gems,” Coleman PowerSports, is where I got my start -- April 2006 New Rider Night. But, that's only the start.
Coleman has two sprawling locations in Virginia; one in Falls Church and the other in Woodbridge. Both offer an array of motorcycles, ATVs, jet skis and more. They carry brands including Yamaha, Honda, Suzuki, Kawasaki, Ducati, Polaris, Aprilia, E-Ton, Can-Am, Kymco, and Sea-Doo. They also have a fantastic array of gear; helmets, gloves, jackets, pants, full leathers, and much more.
My introduction to Coleman PowerSports came via a friend at work who recommended that I attend their New Rider Night. The briefing provided just the information I needed to get started, and an introduction the Apex Cycle Education team that would be the fast-track to the Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) Basic RiderCourse training, and my motorcycle certification on my license.
Once I had my "M" certification, I headed back to the Woodbridge Coleman to select my gear. The salesperson knew exactly what I was looking for, and recommended the helmet, jacket, and gloves that I’m still wearing today.
Coleman also has an email newsletter through which they provide updates about auctions and sales, demo days, parties, new rider nights, and more. If you’re like me, you just missed their Ducati demos on Saturday! New Ducati motorcycles were available for test rides, including the 1198, 848, Hypermotard & Monster 1100S! If you’re kicking yourself now, sign up for their newsletter!
Earlier this year, I attended the Daytona 200 opening night at Coleman's Falls Church store, gathered with a couple of buddies, and a crowd of other race fans. Drinks, pizza and snacks of all sorts were all complements of Coleman PowerSports. Huge big screen TV, good sound system, prize raffles, and more.
I missed the bikini bike wash at the Woodbridge store in April. But, I'm sure it won't be the last! ...I hear they were very thorough.
