When heading out on a group ride, we expect the best.  But, in case of emergency (ICE), will your group have the information it needs to identify a rider, and notify emergency contacts?  Last April, the Manchester Motorcycle Examiner recommended that riders bring ICE on every ride.

The same month, I joined Team Pro-Motion for Advanced Rider Training (ART1) on the track at Virginia International Raceway (VIR).  As part of the inspection process, we were provided with ICE packets to attach to the back of our helmets.

Following a rider's crash during a group ride, it occurred to me that we should be requiring all our group members to include one of these packets on their helmets.

If you ride with a group, or lead a group, consider whether you'll be prepared: In Case of Emergency -- consider requiring the Medication Info Carrier System (MISC) or Emergency Data Carrier System (EDCS) as standard equipment for your group rides.
