July 1, 2009 Update: Parks open. More information.

Imagine setting up camp in anticipation of the long 4th of July weekend. And along comes a State Park Ranger and asks you to leave, now, this evening!

Well, due to the budget issues in Arizona not being settled 13 Arizona State Parks have been closed to campers. That's right... shut, closed... no one can get in. If, by July 1st, a budget is not passed, the majority of State Parks will be closed.

Oddly, a couple of parks remain open. Show Low's Fool Hollow Lake State Recreation Area andLake Havasu State Park. Those parks will stay open through July 5..Boyce Thompson Arboretum State Park is also open.

I have to admit that we take such things as our State Parks for granted. This may teach us a lesson. Please check the website below for updates.
