The expanded 15th annual Sedona International Film Festival promises a week of Oscar-winning movies, directors and nominees, more opportunities to see the most popular films, TCM's Robert Osborne hosting three classic films, a litany of events and a new pre-festival ticketing system that will streamline getting in and out of the theaters.
The increasingly popular Festival, which has been attracting sell-out crowds of movie fans and a growing list of producers, directors, screenwriters and actors from both independent production companies and big-name movie companies with burgeoning independent divisions, runs from Sunday, February 22 to Sunday, March 1. Some of the highlights include:
- 135 films in a range of categories on six screens at the Harkins Sedona 6 Theatres and an expanded venue at Sedona Red Rock High School, where, in addition to a regular schedule of films, additional screenings of the most popular films will be scheduled later in the week;
- a sneak preview of a new film by Seymour and James Keach as well as selected Jane Seymour tribute films;
- Oscar winning documentary film director John Zartisky (The Fifth Estate: Just Another Missing Kid) on hand to discuss his newest film, The Suicide Tourist;
- a new film by Oscar nominees Ed Harris (Apollo 13, The Truman Show, Pollock, The Hours) and Brad Dourif (One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest), Touching Home;
- two films by Oscar-nominated animator Bill Plympton, Idiots and Angels, and Hot Dog.
- a documentary filmmaking workshop and an animation panel discussion;
- Robert Osborne-hosted screenings of the Alfred Hitchcock thriller Notorious, Singing in the Rain with Gene Kelly and Donald O'Connor, Cecil B. DeMille's The Greatest Show on Earth and Osborne's 45-minute interview with the movie's co-star, Betty Hutton;
