Alabama kicker named as semifinalist for Lou Groza Award
Alabama Crimson Tide place-kicker Leigh Tiffin has been named as one of the 20 semifinalists for the Lou Groza Award, which is given each year to college football’s best kicker.
Tiffin became Alabama’s all-time leading scorer Saturday in the Tide’s 24-15 victory over LSU. Tiffin made each of his three field goal attempts in the matchup along with one point-after-touchdown kick.
Tiffin has made 23 of 26 field goal attempts so far this season and currently leads the nation with an average of 2.56 field goals per game. His 76 career field goals are only two shy of Doyle’s school record.
Other SEC kickers that have made the semifinalist list for the award include Auburn’s Wes Byrum, South Carolina’s Spencer Lanning, Florida’s Caleb Sturgis and Georgia’s Blair Walsh.
