There may not be an official election campaign on and Liberal Leader Michael Ignatieff may have said his party will not seek to defeat the government at every turn any longer, but that does not mean campaigning ends.
Today Ignatieff heads to Montreal where he will meet with representatives of Quebec's cultural groups and industries. You'll remember the headaches caused by Prime Minister Harper's comments on the arts in the last election, those comments and the campaign around them that ensued helped make sure that Quebec denied the PM his majority government.
Ignatieff wants to fan those flames and keep that distrust alive in Quebec, he's also seeking to rebuild in that province himself given that our latest Ipsos-Reid poll put the Bloc at 42%, the Liberals at 22% and the Conservatives at 18%.
Details of Ignatieff's appearance and media availability are below, what I find odd is that nowhere does the news release mention the Liberal candidate in Hochelaga where there is a by-election on right now.
