Coffee is the quintessential global drink. From Ethiopia to the Arab world, Italy, Europe and the Americas, the dark, slowly brewed drink continues to have an enormous following all around the globe.

This weekend, the World Forestry Center in Portland will host a Coffee Fair to celebrate what's likely the world's most popular drink. See below for information, and get  those taste buds ready to sip, savor and explore even more about this beloved global beverage.

From the World Forestry Center:

Sip and savor coffees from around the globe roasted to perfection right here in the Pacific Northwest as bigwig to backyard roasters roll out new products, blends, and tempt the taste buds with the world’s most commonly used drug. Highlights Include:

  • The IKEA lounge giving away free travel mugs for the first 100 people each day entitling them to FREE refills in the IKEA restaurant for a year!
  • Test your nose against the experts in the Aroma Challenge or become a coffee connoisseur by participating in a tastings with Portland Roasting Coffee
  • Want your coffee at home to taste as good as the local cafe? Learn How to Brew the Perfect Cup with Batdorf & Bronson Coffee Roasters
  • Show and taste as Longbottom Coffee demonstrates 3 different ways coffee’s brewed
  • Think you know your Starbucks? Try your hand at the Taste Challenge and sample the new VIA, instant coffee for the new millennium
  • Learn Coffee 101 from The Passionate Harvest


This event is in conjunction with the special exhibit, Coffee: The World In Your Cup, on view October 17, 2009 – January 10, 2010.


The exhibit explores the fascinating journey of coffee from seed to cup. The World Forestry Center is a 501(c)(3) non profit dedicated to educating people about the world’s forests and environmental sustainability. By visiting our museum, tree farms, and attending our events, you are helping to support our very important mission.
