Half of Chivas USA's starting midfield has either left the team or is in trial with another outfit. Francisco Mendoza, the last remaining player from the original expansion Chivas side, has rejoined Chivas de Guadalajara, while Sacha Kljestan is on trial with Celtic of the Scottish Premier League.

Mendoza, 23, was on loan from Chivas USA's sister club, Chivas de Guadalajara. He has been recalled as Chivas de Guadalajara will have a taxing spring season.

Kljestan, meanwhile, has been a rumored transfer target for months now, especially after his performance in the 2008 Olympics. According to Steven Goff, Celtic has already offered a $2.9 million transfer fee for the Seton Hall product.

If both depart, that will leave Jesse Marsch and Paolo Nagamura from last year's first choice midfield lineup - and Marsch has been rumored to be retiring.
