After what seemed like an excruciating layoff, the St. Louis Blues return to the ice tonight against the Atlanta Thrashers.

 

No doubt the crowd will be going nuts all night at the Scottrade Center celebrating the home opener of the new season.

 

The scene will be very different from the pro-Red Wing crowd the team saw in Sweden, with fans bleeding blue all over the arena.

 

But the scene pails in comparison to what actually took place in Stockholm with the Blues skating away from the Red Wings with two victories.

When was the last time the Blues scored three unanswered goals against the Wings?

Or when was the last time the Blues took two straight from Detroit?

Only time will tell if there is such a thing as an overseas hangover and the first test will come tonight.

Coach Andy Murray refused to pat players on the back for the impressive wins. Instead he, and Assistant Coach Rick Wamsley, were all over the team this week in practice.
