While it could be a better idea to discuss the slow-starting Blues and their first period problems.

But most of them are outlined by this excellent Jeremy Rutherford piece which appeared in today's P-D.

In the meantime, and while we wait for the Blues to redeem themselves Thursday in Phoenix, it might be a better idea to talk about Blues legend, Al MacInnis and his contribution to the franchise.

While his stats speak for themselves, along with his slapshot, the presence of "Chopper" can be felt around Scottrade Center on any given day.

(And now it can be seen outside on Clark Street.)

From housing Erik Johnson during his rookie season along with his professional duties as VP of hockey operations, MacInnis has extended his role with the team. No doubt, MacInnis take pride in his developmental role around the young core of the Blues defense. Alex Pietrangelo, Johnson, Roman Polak, Jonas Junland and Tyson Strachan can all learn from MacInnis.

It was unfortunate to see him retire prematurely because of an eye injury, but his absence from the blueline didn't mark the end of his influence on the team.

The Hall-of-Famer truly bleeds blue.
