Representatives Maurice Hinchey (D-NY-22) and John McHugh (R-NY-23) reintroduced the PAHR bill (HR 2256) in the House of Representatives on May 5, 2009. As the month of October ends, the condition of records, the environments in which they’re stored, the status of funding, and the support for archives programs in this country remain in limbo On October 30, please join with my wife Barbara and I  in a national day of advocacy by contacting your member of Congress and informing him or her of the deplorable conditions in your repository, your region, or your state. I need you to urge your representative in Congress to support the "Preserving the American Historical Record" Act PAHR

My wife Barbara and I have spent countless hours over the last forty plus years studying our collective pasts in our nation’s archives. If we all do not do something now these vital links to our past may not be there for future generations. Barbara and I urge you to go to this website, http://www.archivists.org/pahr/, for more information on what you can do to help save the past for the future.
