ATLANTA, Nov. 5 – A more powerful, faster and lighter Porsche Boxster will be introduced at the Los Angeles Auto Show Dec. 2 and go on sale in the United States Feb. 2 starting at $61,200, the German manufacturer reported today.
The Porsche Boxster Spyder features a 3.4-liter six-cylinder engine with direct fuel injection that produces 320 horsepower, 10 more than the Boxster S.

Equipped with Porsche’s twin-clutch auto-manual transmission and launch control,
the Spyder will be able to roar from a stop to 60 mph in 4.6 seconds and reach a top track speed of 166 mph with the top open.
The mid-engine roadster has aluminum door skins and lightweight interior door panels from the Porsche 911 GT3 RS that help to make it the lightest Porsche available at 2,811 pounds.
The Spyder features an all-new sport suspension that lowers it by .78 inches, a lower center of gravity, a standard limited slip differential and unique wheels.
The lightweight soft top, when closed, extends far to the rear of the sports car to protect the driver and passenger from sunshine, wind and weather.
Limited-edition Spyders were introduced in 2004 and 2008 to honor the 550 Spyder and RS 60 Porsches of the 1950s and 1960s, but the newest one is an upgraded production model that will take its place alongside the Boxster and Boxster S.
