General Motors sales increased by four percent in October compared to the same month last year, Susan Docherty, vice president of sales reported today.
Docherty also reported that the 177,603 vehicles sold raised GM’s market share from 19.4 percent to 21 percent. The October sales increase was the first year-over-year gain for General Motors in 21 months.
The vice president pointed out that sales of the Chevrolet Camaro have outpaced the Ford Mustang for five months and that the five other newest products -- Chevrolet Equinox, Chevrolet Traverse, Buick LaCrosse, GMC Terrain, and Cadillac SRX – are showing improvement in sales and traffic.
“With 95 percent of our retail sales for the month attributed to Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac, our sales mix is healthier than it was with eight brands, Docherty noted.
“So, while no one is declaring victory … we are seeing signs of progress,” Docherty wrote on her GM Fast Lane blog.
