YONKERS, NY, Nov. 2 – Consumer Reports has given the new 2010 Mazda3 a “Very Good” rating in tests of the small sedan with both the five-speed manual and five-speed automatic transmission.
The magazine said the Mazda3 is distinguished by agile handling and a well designed interior. However, it also noted that, while the interior has been upgraded, the rear seat remains tight.
Among other findings, the magazine noted that road noise was pronounced in the cabin, brakes were good and the trunk was tall and properly shaped to receive cargo.
A Mazda3 Touring model with automatic transmission and two-liter, 148-horsepower four-cylinder engine delivered satisfactory performance and averaged 30 miles per gallon of gasoline.
The complete test results will appear in the December issue of Consumer Reports, which will be on sale tomorrow. They will also be available to subscribers of the magazine’s Web site, www.ConsumerReports.org.
