November and December are busy holiday months, but several interesting events and lectures are coming up with a focus on learning more about autism, options for coping with the system and other pertinent health care issues as well as fun opportunities for kids.

  • PhillyHealthInfo and The College of Physicians of Philadelphia is offering a lecture on November 16th on the impact of health care reform and health inequities in light of the legislation that recently passed the House and is going before the Senate.   • Learn about Medicare at Crozer-Keystone's lecture about "Making Your Way Through the Medicare Maze" on November 18th from 1-2pm at the Crozer Medical Plaza, 300 Evergreen Drive, Glen Mills. The lecture is free, lunch costs $5.30. Call 1-800-CK-HEALTH (1-800-254-3258) for more information and to register.
  • The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia lecture series is presenting a lecture on December 3rd with the topic of "Separating the Science and the Fiction of Autism" from 7pm to 9pm at the Abramson Research Center in Room 123ABC. Download the PDF from the CHOP CAR site for more information.
  • ASCEND (The Asperger Syndrome Alliance for Greater Philadelphia) is offering a workshop on keeping SSI and SSDI benefits while remaining employed for autistic individuals, parents and caregivers on December 5th from 10am to 12pm in Norristown at the Montgomery County Human Services Building at 1430 Dekalb St. More information is available on the ASCEND Regional Events page.
  • The Variety Club is offering a Children's Holiday Party at the Variety Club Camp and Developmental Center in Worcester on December 5th from 1pm onward. Find out more on the Variety Club's web site.
