Balancing out nutritional needs for your toddler can be tricky. Between three meals and snacks, it may not seem to difficult to pack in all tat they need in a given day. But anyone who has a picky toddler will be quick to agree that this task is more challenging than it seems. 

Toddlers need two full servings of fruits and vegetables per day. So what is in a serving? Well, one cup of fruit equals one serving. And given that many toddlers prefer fruit over vegetables, it may be easier to meet this requirement with a little extra fruit. While it is easy enough to measure out 1 cup of fruit, it is still important to select the right fruits for your toddler. 

Super fruits for toddlers:

  • 1/2 a large apple is rich in dietary fiber and vitamin C. Apples also contain important antioxidants.
  • 1 large banana is a great source of many vitamins and minerals including vitamin C, potassium, and fiber. Potassium is vital for muscle development and protein synthesis.
  • 1 orange is packed with many nutritional benefits such as vitamin C, calcium, folic acid, magnesium, and vitamin B6. 
  • 2 small plums contain vitamin C, which can protect against asthma. Plums also aid the body in absorption of iron.
  • 1 mango boasts a long list of health benefits. Mangos are high in fiber and iron as well as containing enzymes to aid in digestion.
