A big cast of Sesame Street characters on the Google logo today wraps up the search giant's tribute to the 40th anniversary of the popular children's show.

Today is Sesame Street's anniversary. For the past week, Google has been integrating the show's characters into its famous logo.

The individual characters featured were Big Bird, Cookie Monster, Bert and Ernie, Oscar, Elmo and The Count. Check out the related slideshow.

Google has also made the Sesame Street doodles available for download. Click here for that. You can also see some of the international Sesame Street logos that Google ran this week.

The weeklong tribute caused a spike in Google searches for "Sesame Street," as this chart shows. This makes one wonder if it was a paid product placement. If not, Google could certainly charge a company for the exposure it receives when on the famous Google logo.
