Hidden Valley Lake - When Jack and Karen Lair decided to turn their convenience store into something more than a gas station with groceries, I doubt they set out to introduce Hidden Valley Lake to the wonders of Social Media and professionally-scripted video production. But, as of Sunday, Nov. 8th, their Hidden Valley Food Mart has introduced all of Lake County to the first Social Media Workshop Meetup. Registered participants brought laptops to the workshop to receive "hands-on" help concerning computer clean-up of unnecessary files. Mark Rudiger of LakeCountyWebsites passed out special flash drives with software designed to make the operation of those computers become faster and more efficient. Once the computers were cleaned up, it was time to learn about Social Media - including such wonderful services as budURL, Twitter, Aardvark, Skype and Squidoo.
This would not have been possible had the convenience store owners not built a dining area - complete with a 42-inch Vizio HDTV with a long VGA cable. It also would not have been possible had the store itself not become a FREE Wi-Fi hot spot. That means anyone can come into the store with a laptop and check email, search the Web and make VOIP phone calls. What's next? Well, the Lair's do have another restaurant currently being built in Kelseyville. This may open some time in December. No doubt, it too will be a FREE Wi-Fi hot spot and be able to attract an enthusiastic crowd of folks interested in all that Social Media has to offer - just as the Hidden Valley Food Mart seems to have done.
What about bringing professionally-scripted video production to Lake County? Interest in that area has been expressed as well. Why? Because video is not just at the video store and on TV. Video is all over the Internet - especially in the Social Media space. Why not put the magic of video promotion to work for Lake County businesses? Jack and Karen Lair are open to it. And, they are not alone. Lucerne dentist, Dr. Doug Reams, has also expressed an interest.
"In light of today's challenging economy, I see the need to investigate new venues(for my practice) of business promotion," said Dr. Reams. As a member of the Lake County Chamber of Commerce, he may know many others with a similar need and interest. If he gets several of them interested in having their own commercials shot, it's actually possible all productions could get shot in a single trip by the production crew. But, how does that work?
In San Mateo, the name that stands out in professionally-scripted video production is OmnivisionLive. A sales rep from OmnivisionLive would call the production coordinator to arrange for the managing editor of the production to meet with the client. The editor meets with the client to develop the scripts. This might possibly be accomplished over-the-phone - at least initially. When the scripts are complete, the editor schedules the video shoot with the videographer. The video shoot takes from two to four hours. Make no mistake, there is a lot involved behind-the-scenes - not just in front of the camera. Thankfully, the OmnivisionLive script writer has the benefit of a film library to greatly enhance the value of the video production and at the same time save the client money in terms of production cost.

Not only can OmnivisionLive create professionally-scripted HD videos, its client promotion package includes promotional stickers for windows and doors, TV advertising through Comcast Cable, direct-mail of 200,000 pieces and the linkage of the videos to a personal website. If you go to www.omnivisionlive.com, you can see many of the customer videos produced by the company (including testimonials) and videos from affiliated sites - RestaurantsLive and YellowPagesLive.
