A confirmed case of the H1N1 influenze virus (so-called swine flu) was found in a 13 year old cat in Iowa. The cat developed upper respiratory signs after several people in the household were ill. The virus was confirmed on November 2nd. The cat has since recovered. This is the first case of the H1N1 influenze in a cat. See the AVMA website for more information.
