SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY -- The March of Dimes Signature Chefs Auction, set for Tuesday night, will put more than the usual suspects.

When food-centric fundraisers are held in the Capital Region, usually the same names pop up. This time, some different ones will be plying their skills against each other at Vapor Night Club at Saratoga Gaming and Raceway.

Competitors signed up for the "Iron Chef"-style event include Jim Kavanaugh of Bellini’s Italian Eatery, Judy and Teddy Somboon of Blue Spice Thai Restaurant, Kevin Robert of Crowne Plaza Downtown,  Brian Sterner of the Gideon Putnam Resort, Heidi Mabb of the new Hilton Garden Inn in Troy, and Gardner Crandall of Scrimshaw at The Desmond.

Each chef will have 30 minutes to prepare their dishes from a basket of mystery ingredients. Guests will be able to sample their signature dishes as well as bid on numerous silent auction items.

Other participating restaurants include Fortune’s Restaurant, Irish Mist Restaurant, Sunset Café, CoccaDots, Saratoga Cheesecake Company, Saratoga Farmers’ Market, Cabot Cheese and Melville’s Mug.
