ROTTERDAM, NY -- Theodore "Uncle Ted" Barnes, 67, a retired marina operator and restaurateur who ran the Oxbow Inn in Schenectady for nine years, died Tuesday.

He was born in Schenectady, graduated from Albany Academy and Boston University, and was in the real estate business for a time before opening his restaurant, known for his caricature adorning it.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Karen; his sons, Scott Barnes of Dallas, Steve Barnes, restaurant writer for the Albany Times Union, and Brian Barnes of Amsterdam; his father, three sisters and seven grandchildren.

A memorial service is planned for Saturday at Princetown Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Duanesburg, Schenectady County.
