I had heard quite a bit about Big Bang’s and wanted to see what all the fuss was about. Both good and bad things had been posted, but if a normal night is anything like when I was there on a Thursday night, there may not be a better place in the city for a good time.
With Tir Na Nog being a bust, we were looking to hang out and have some drinks. A friend of mine had suggested Big Bang’s as they had their own little twist on Karaoke. There is a live band there, KeiMillion and the Ryte Time Players, but they had no problems giving up the mike for anyone with some talent that wanted their moment in the spotlight. There no TV’s with words flying across, so you better know the words if you want the spotlight.
Our bartender Stacy did a great job all night long and kept them coming. The bar has a great selection of alcohol and the pricing is competitive for the area. We paid $10 a pop for Patron Reposado, but the pour was healthy and the service was great.
All in all, this is a great place to spend your Thursday night. The bar has plenty of space and it is easy to see the band as they locate themselves up on the second floor landing at the top of the steps. Everyone can see them and you can definitely hear them. The crowd was easy going and striking up a conversation took nothing more than introducing yourself. When you are tired of the same old stuffy center city bars, give Big Bang’s a try, but remember, you better know the words to sing a song there. This is NOT your grandmothers Karoake!
