America's favorite talking mouse turns 81 today, and he is looking better than ever!
Exactly 81 years ago today, the cartoon Steamboat Willie was released. It was the first Mickey Mouse cartoon that had synchronized sound. It was actually the third cartoon featuring the mouse (originally named Mortimer Mouse), but the first one to garner any attention.
Mickey has come a long way since his steamboat days. He is undoubtedly the most recognizable Disney character and also has his own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. He was actually the first cartoon character to receive a star.
If we have learned anything from this lovable mouse, it is that he will continue to evolve through the ages and will remain a classic character. Happy Birthday, Mickey!
