Profile of Local Romance Writer, Rita Oberlies
Our very own Rita Oberlies's second book release dropped September 1, The Catcher and the Lie. This book was published through Samhain Publishing. Let's learn more about our Local Romance Writer.
Rita Oberlies grew up in the Boston area, the youngest in a family of six children. At an early age she developed an addiction to books, baseball, and the beaches of Cape Cod.
After graduating from Villanova University with a degree in English, Rita spent a decade pursuing a professional career in Employee Learning and Development.
Today she resides in the suburbs of Rochester with her husband, two young sons, three dogs, and two African dwarf frogs. In addition to devouring books Rita spends a great deal of time hanging around Lollipop Farm (where she has adopted two of the family dogs from), the Seneca Park Zoo and Frontier Field.
Now about the Book, here is a teaser.
One player works extra innings to make Abby break her own rules about love.
After a year of personal and professional upheaval Nick Valente is in the market for redemption, not temptation. Getting involved with any woman, especially smart-mouthed Abby McCabe, is simply not in this player’s game plan.
Experience, mostly bad, has convinced Abby McCabe that she has a special gift for finding men who can’t help falling out of love with her. Getting close to a man, especially one who plays the field professionally, is sure to add another loss to her emotional score sheet.
As summer heats up an unexpected spark turns into a flame. But fear of getting burned winds up putting two strikes in their relationship. With Nick on the bench, it’s up to Abby to turn the game around. Trusting this man with her heart could deliver the biggest save of her life—or the biggest error she ever made.
Will they strike out or end up with a homerun?
This book as won third place in short contemporary for the Bean Pot Contest for published authors through New England Chapter of RWA, (March 2009).
