Hallowe’en – a shortened version of the original Hallowed Evening or All Saint’s Eve, the night preceding All Saint’s Day. Heritage Village in Old City Park has some interesting Halloween activities. But first, check out three online Hallowe’en postcards from the early 1900s on their website.

Dallas Heritage Village at Old City Park is offering two special Halloween treats: a Twilight Tour of two of the homes with a haunted history in the Village, the Millermore House and the Sullivan House. Reservations are required for the tours which are offered in 20 minute increments starting at 7:00 p.m. with the last tour at 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 31. The “law office” in Heritage Village has a creepy history, too, from the time the building which houses it sat in its original location: a murder occurred there in the early 1900s.

For truly zealous ghost hunters – those with their own ghost-detecting equipment – Heritage Village is offering the opportunity for ghost hunters to bring in their gear and actually conduct their own ghost hunt and run tests to uncover the ghostly mysteries at Heritage Village. Ghost hunters may visit and set up their equipment in just one or up to four of six select structures within the Village: the farmstead, the bank, the law office (where the murder occurred), the depot, and the Millermore and Sullivan homes. Sorry to say, but reservations had to be in by tonight, so the opportunity has passed to sign up at this late hour. With the popularity of ghost hunter television shows, Heritage Village may allow a repeat opportunity again in 2010.
