Randy Travis will serve as mentor for “American Idol” contestants next week, producers of the show announced.
Grand Ole Opry Week on “American Idol” is scheduled for broadcast Tuesday on the Fox network, when remaining contestants will show what they have as country singers.
The results show is on Wednesday.
Dolly Parton served as country music mentor last season.
Randy’s 1986 debut album, “Storms of Life,” went to No. 1 on the Billboard country album chart, as did his next four albums.
To date, 13 of his albums have reached the Top 10, 16 singles have reached No. 1 and 12 more have reached the Top 10.
Travis has earned numerous country music awards. His latest album, “Around the Bend,” is one of the nominees for the Gospel Music Association’s Country Album of the Year.
