Martine McBride released 'At Last' in 2005

Etta James, I love you . . . but back off. Beyonce has the right to sing “At Last” and so does everyone else.

For the record, here is what Etta had to say, as reported by MTV.com:

“You guys know your president, right? You know the one with the big ears? Wait a minute, he ain't my president. He might be yours; he ain't my president. But I tell you that woman he had singing for him, singing my song.... she's going to get her ass whipped. The great Beyoncé? Like I said, she ain't mine. ... I can't stand Beyoncé. She has no business up there, singing up there on a big ol' president day, gonna' be singing my song that I've been singing forever.”

“At last” is a wonderful song. We are inspired any time it is sung with a beautiful voice.

Etta wasn’t the first to record it.

According to Wikipedia, “At Last” was written 20 years before Etta recorded it, and it was first recorded by Glenn Miller’s Orchestra.

Among the others who have recorded “At Last” are Ella Fitzgerald, Lou Rawls and Stevie Wonder.

And, there’s Martina McBride, who recorded it in 2005 for a special Hallmark Valentine’s Day CD called My Heart, which is rare but still available.

Martina’s version is beautiful. A fan video of the song is found below.
