Meet Daniel James Love from Le Bar and Mercadito
Part of a series of quick profiles of great bartenders and mixologists in Chicago.
Daniel Love has been behind the bar for six years now. He is part of the opening team at the new Mercadito (just opened), and has been behind the stick at the Le Bar in the Sofitel for awhile. His schedule varies week to week - on rare occasions, you might even find him at The Shrine.
Daniel's five answers:
- What you should order right now: Ask for a cocktail that's not on the menu. Even better, tell him what spirit you want in your drink, and challenge him to create sopmething on the spot.
- Best advice he ever received: At the end of the day, it's just alcohol in a glass.
- Worst advice he ever received: You should snort this shot of tequila.
- Favorite Drink and Hangout: He likes the Paramount Room, where he usually drinks beer. He also loves the Manhattan at the Drawing Room, where he was behind the bar awhile back.
- Random Fact: Daniel is a second degree blackbelt in Tae Kwon Do. He also plays the violin -he's been playing for 15 years now.
