We thought that when we finally heard from Chris Brown after the 'incident' with ex-girlfriend Rihanna, it would be a carefully orchestrated, PR-managed apology to Rihanna and his fans. How wrong were we? The singer posted a video to Youtube Tuesday where he sent a brief 37-second message to his fans. In the video, he says:
I just wanted to say 'what up' 'cause I ain't been out there in a minute, but, new album coming soon. We're working on it right now... We ain't going nowhere. Everybody that's haters, they just been haters. All my real fans, I love ya'all. I ain't a monster.
Oh, Chris. There are so many things we have to say to you. First of all, disapproving of domestic violence does not a 'hater' make. And judging by the pictures and the pending court case, the jury is (literally) still out on your monster status.
There aren't words to express just how disappointed we are in Chris' decision to make light of a very serious situation and speak out this way. And an extra head shake of disapproval goes out to Bow Wow for getting involved in this at all. "Believe that?" That's what you want your contribution to such a highly-publicized incident of domestic violence to be? Shame on both of these guys.
We don't think we'll ever be able to forgive Chris Brown for what he did to Rihanna or how he's handled this situation. As far as we're concerned, Chris Brown's career is over. In the words of his sidekick, Bow wow, 'believe that.'
