The pet industry is growing every day, and doesn't show any sign of slowing down. Pet owners are spending millions of dollars on pet supplies, pet food, pet attire, and pet treats. The industry has become so diverse that the opportunity to make money with pet products or pet services has attracted a large number of entrepreneurs.
Northwest Arkansas is no stranger to pet businesses, and Big Wag Gourmet Dog Bakery has to be one of the most unique. The bakery is owned and operated by Cary and Erin Hague. Cary and Erin just celebrated Big Wag's 3rd anniversary this year, and their business appears to be thriving.
Starting a pet-related business seems simple and it is definitely appealing. But, it takes a great deal of business knowledge and perseverance.

Erin Hague creates the gourmet dog treat recipes for Big Wag, and she bakes the treats every day. She emphasises that Big Wag makes every effort to ensure that they offer only healthy and wholesome dog treats. Erin avoids ingredients such as chocolate, citrus extracts, grapes, raisins, onions, nutmeg, salt, soy, sugar and corn. These ingredients range from unhealthy to toxic for dogs. Big Wag treats contain ingredients such as: whole wheat flour with high fiber content, spelt flour (for dogs with a sensitivity to wheat), oats, vegetables, Alaskan Salmon and cinnnamon. All of these ingredients are safe to use in the production of dog treats.
The Big Wag store in Rogers, Arkansas is full of delectable offerings for dogs, and pet owners are welcome to take their dogs into the store to choose their own treats. The store hosts regular events, such as a Yappy Hour, $5 Fridays, and annual events including Big Wag's Birthday and Santa Paws.

It's obvious from the way Cary and Erin do business that they love what they do, and that goes a long way toward making a business a success. But, it's their hard work and dedication that make Big Wag Gourmet Dog Bakery the success that it is.
Big Wag is only one of probably hundreds of dog treat bakeries in the U.S. today. Three Dog Bakery in Kansas City, Missouri, was probably the first dog bakery to make a name for itself in the U.S. It started out with one store, but now has franchises across the country. Who knew selling baked dog treats could be so profitable?
