Much Ado about Michelle Obama's Inaugural gown

Ok, so the cat's out of the bag.  Michelle's stylist called earlier to let me know Michelle will be wearing an off-the-rack black dress from White House Black Market and a pair of strappy black sandals from payless.  Her official statement was "Michelle has elected to save some cash, and has chosen to wear an affordable dress that will surely be sold out in stores across America by 3 a.m. on wednesday morning."   Ok, please don't get carried away -  I am making this up!  

I'm pretty sure that Michelle O would look fabulous if even she wore a dress made from a potato sack.  She'd look fabulous rocking a $15,000 gown or a $145 gown -  one thing we know for sure is that no matter what she wears on Tuesday night, Mrs. O. will own that dress, own the room and rock the night.  

The inaugural ceremony is all about President-elect Barack, but we all know that the inaugural night is all about Michelle O.  Here's my take:   American designer - yes; elegant - yes; chic - yes; fashionable - yes; bold - probably, Recession-friendly - hopefully!!  But we can cut her slack - she wore reasonably priced fashion choices throughout the campaign/election season.
