Gosselin family torn by reality show proceedings
Famous father Jon Gosselin has attempted to sway the public in his favor, by claiming his eight children are being exploited by the reality show that made his family famous.
The 32-year-old swiped at former partner Kate on Larry King Live, saying the rolling of cameras around his children is not healthy. Jon, who was recently fired by TLC from the show Jon and Kate, Plus 8, is reportedly outraged by the alleged exploitation his children face on television.
Followers of the Gosselin drama were quick to point out that Jon, who formerly starred on the show, was willing to let his children be filmed prior to his departure from the production.
‘Children on reality television’ has been the subject of a great American debate, with celebrities like Denise Richards facing public backlash for featuring their kids on TV.
In an interview with Vanity Fair, Kate Gosselin revealed her eight children were 'upset' by the idea of ending the show, however child psychologists toy with the idea that the children simply face withdrawals.
Dr. Ean Passadin believes, "The children associate nice cars, holidays and celebrity luxuries with the filming of the show because thus far, TLC has provided them with everything. Any child would be unhappy that luxuries of this kind may come to an end. Whether or not the children are saddened by the idea of cameras invading their personal lives or not is a completely different story. I’m positive it’s a superficial sadness and not necessarily emotional health."
Recent internet trends have seen an increase in searches for Jon Gosselin with negative tags, with reports claiming he is fast becoming America's most hated father. Internet blogger Perez Hilton holds a particular distaste for the father, who recently struck up a friendship with another controversial dad, Michael Lohan.
The pairs very public divorce has played out in the media for several weeks.
Though a recent poll deduced Americans as ‘sick’ of the Gosselin coverage, millions still tune in to watch the divorce unravel.
