What’s more Southern than car racing and country music ? The two go together like grits and butter or tea and sugar. They’ve always been around but they weren’t complete until they met each other.
Sound & Speed returns to Nashville after raising more than $400,000 for charity. They’re able to raise all that money because tickets to the star studded meet and greet events are $20 an adult and $15 a child. People pay that much because you get a chance to meet some of your favorite racing and music personalities like Dale Earnhardt, Jr., Dierks Bentley, Michael Waltrip, and Josh Turner. Plus you will find show cars, sponsor displays and a lot more inside. For a complete list visit the Sound and Speed website.
But with charity comes charity and you may be able to score yourself some free tickets to the meet and greet by following three easy steps: 1) Listen to the radio. WSM 650AM is a sponsor so they will probably be having some giveaways. Also, most every country station in town will be giving away seats to the concert on Saturday night headlined by Montgomery Gentry and featuring Rodney Adkins and Julianne Hough. 2) Show up early. I literally stumbled upon Sound & Speed 2008. My family was downtown and didn’t realize it was happening until we saw a lot of commotion in front of the Sommett Center (this year‘s event is held at the Municipal Auditorium). A sponsor had just finished giving out a handful of ticket to that night’s concert and we missed them! All was not lost, we were able to get autograph tickets for Dirks Bentley which also got us into all the displays inside. 3) Hang around. If you miss the early morning giveaways, there is a good chance there will be more ticket giveaways as the day goes on. With people spending less money it’s going to be harder to sell tickets so there will be more to give away. One last note, with the Titans-Ravens playoff game Saturday, parking will be tight. Your best be will be the State lots just down the hill from the Municipal Auditorium on the river side of Bicentennial Mall State Park. They’re free and further away from the game at LP field.
