In the past year or so, Schick Shadel Hospital has made a huge push in the Seattle area to publicize its aversion therapy addiction treatment center. Billboards along Highway 99 and radio & TV have clearly broadcasted the 10-day 'cure' for drug and alcohol addiction.
The effectiveness of the ad campaign has something to do with its main spokesman, Pat O'Day, who delivers the Schick Shadel message with emphatic conviction -- the kind that makes even social drinkers think about taking a whirl with aversion therapy.
O'Day talks about being in the music industry and watching many of his friends and colleagues struggle with addiction. He then says how effective Schick Shadel was in eliminating his desire to drink. As a member of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, O'Day is called The Godfather of Northwest Rock.
