A Little Piece of Sunset (Bowl) For Everyone
POSTED April 22, 7:47 AM
Mama, let's go down and buy ourselves a bowling pin. Or maybe a long, battered gutter. We could fit that in the Prius, can't we?

It's official, we guess. Sunset Bowl, sold to make way for more condos, is now on the auction block. And we do mean NOW.

Every single, stinkin' little piece of the grand ol' Ballard bowlery is up for bid this morning by the James G. Murphy Company auction company.

There's a preview of Sunset Bowl wares taking place from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., with bidding to follow. The live auction has internet bidding and audio available, too.

Me? I might have to traipse on up to Market Street and bid on that pair of size 9 bowling shoes, the floppy ol' biege and burnt umber pair I wore for my daughter's 8th birthday party,  held at Sunset Bowl. Those shoes made me look like Red Skelton, but wasn't that the point? Bowling as an American act of social communion? When they closed Sunset Bowl last week, Seattle lost another piece of its soul.
