Disney Cruise Line just announced that after a nine-year absence, Mickey Mouse will return to the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade. He'll be in the form of a 61 feet high, 33 feet wide and 48 feet long Sailor Mickey incarnation (his last appearance was as Bandleader Mickey in 2000). The parade will take place on November 26.
It will take about 14,000 cubic feet of helium to inflate Mickey, and he will be controlled with 52 guide lines and accompanied by 70 volunteer handlers.
Mickey also has the honor of being the official Macy's ambassador this year. A plush talking Sailor Mickey replica is being sold at Macy's stores and on their website through the holiday season.
