Watch your mail, you red light runner. Denver’s first red light camera has started issuing tickets. Right now, the camera at 36th and Quebec is just issuing warnings, but starting July 17th that will change. It is going to cost you 75-bucks if their robo cams catch you blasting through the red.
This is the first intersection that is getting a red light camera. The city will also turn them on at:
6th and Lincoln
6th and Kalamath
8th and Speer
City installers made one other change at that intersection when they put in the camera. They stretched the yellow at 36th and Quebec, giving you 5 seconds of yellow before it turns red, instead of the usual 3 seconds time limit.
I dunno.
Give me an extra long yellow light and I think I’d be more likely to try and get through the intersection before the light turns red, even with a 75-dollar fine.
I’m a bit of a gambler.
How about you?
