Buy A Car....Get A Free Handgun

June 11, 7:00 AM
by John Morrissey, Denver Traffic Examiner

A unibrowed, gun toting cowboy
is Missouri's Max Motors mascot
for a reason.  Buy a car from them
and you got a free handgun, too!

Unless you are selling scooters or fuel efficient hybrids, selling cars is tough these days.  Car dealers are hawking all sorts of things to get you to buy one of their gas guzzlers.

One will "pay off your trade, no matter what you owe!"

Another says "buy one car, get a second car free!"

Well, here comes a promotion even Dealin' Doug and Shagman won't touch.  At least, I hope not.

Max Motors' logo is a funky cartoon cowboy.  They recently offered car buyers in Butler, Missouri a choice...either a $250 gas card or a free handgun!

Car sales quadrupled during the promotion and almost everybody who bought a car chose the $250 voucher from a local gun shop over the gas card.

The cops have not said how much road rage has spiked since the dealer did this but I’d be careful who I flipped off in Missouri, if I were you.
