Attention Hawaiian Immersion school parents: Google, the world's most popular search engine is now available in 'Olelo Hawai'i.

Thanks to Keola Donaghy, an assistant professor at University of Hawaii at Hilo's College of Hawaiian Language (Ka Haka 'Ula O Ke'elikolani) who completed the translation and the Google in Your Language program, thousands of Hawaiian language speakers can practice their na'auao- their knowledge in Hawai'i's first official language.

While Google is not made to translate documents, it allows for one to enjoy the familiarity of the search engine in the user's preferred language medium.  Hawaiian Google currently appears exclusively through Apple's Safari browser and is readily available to Macintosh users who have selected 'Olelo Hawai'i as their computer's primary language.

For many, this is a cause for celebration.  As the saying goes, e ola ka 'olelo Hawai'i.  The Hawaiian language will live on.
