The savage Taliban are at it again. Just three days ago, a suicide bomber attacked the United Nation’s World Food Program (WFP) headquarters in Islamabad, Pakistan, killing five UN workers. The Taliban have claimed responsibility of this heinous act and have issued a statement explaining that “the UN and other foreign aid groups are not working in the interests of Muslims.”
Well the rest of us Muslims have a statement for the Taliban: YOU are not working in the interests of Muslims. The Taliban is one of the ugliest stains on the history of Islam, and their actions must come to an end.
The Taliban need to stop putting on this act as “defenders of Muslims.” You do not represent us. I hope nobody is fooled into thinking that your actions are actually motivated by religion. Islam has nothing to do with these actions. This is purely a political power-struggle.

The bombing occurred just 24 hours after the new leader of the Pakistani Taliban, Hakimullah Mehsud, vowed to seek revenge for the deaths of hundreds of Taliban in attacks by US and Pakistani military and for the assassination of the previous Taliban leader – Baitullah Mehsud – by American missiles on August 5. Hakimullah’s brother was also killed in a firefight with government troops last week.
This is the Taliban’s game of revenge. This has nothing to do with Islam. Just yesterday, a car packed with explosives blew up beside the Indian Embassy in Kabul, Afghanistan, leaving 17 people dead. These 17 were innocent people; merchants and shoppers. Just today (Friday), a minibus packed with explosives detonated along a road near a famous market in Peshawar, Pakistan, killing at least 30 and wounding 100. This is not a defense of one’s faith. This is the clear murder of innocent human beings.
Let me make one thing very clear to the members and supporters of the Taliban: you do not represent Muslims, and your ideology of hate and murder defies the laws of Islam. Do you honestly think that you will not be held accountable for the deaths of so many innocent people? Do you not fear God at all?
The Holy Quran (holy scripture of Islam) makes it very clear that Muslims must protect the sanctity of human life when it declares that whosoever unjustly kills a single person, it shall be as if he slaughtered all mankind; and whosoever saves the life of one, it shall be as if he had protected the life of all mankind (5:32).
Clearly the actions of terrorists like the Taliban break the very law of Islam. So how can they represent Muslims? Killing of innocent people and committing suicide both are grievous sins in Islam. God declares in the Holy Quran that suicide is forbidden (4:29) and repeatedly instructs people not to create disorder in the earth.
Let this serve as a warning to the Taliban and anyone who supports them: you have disobeyed the commandment of the Almighty God who instructs you to cherish the sanctity of life and not to create disorder in the land. Fear God, the All-Powerful. Islam does not need you and Muslims don’t want you. When your punishment comes, don’t look to us for help or protection.
