The Armand Bayou Nature Center is hosting its annual "Creepy Crawlers" event on Saturday October 24th from 6:30 PM - 9 PM.
Creepy Crawlers is a family-oriented educational event with just enough "spook" to make it fun for Halloween.
There are several activities to enjoy. You can take a guided night-hike through the woods, get your face painted, listen to storytellers spin some spooky tales, or decorate a mask with all-natural materials (like berries and pine needles). Animal handling experts will be on hand to let you get up close and personal with various reptiles, insects, spiders and mammals.
You can step back in time by taking an old-fashioned hayride, decorating a sugar cookie and drinking apple juice at the nature center's turn-of-the-century farm site.
One of the most popular activities for the kids is diving for candy in a haystack. They get to dive right in and search through the hay until they find their treat.
The Creepy Crawlers event is a unique, educational and fun way to celebrate the Halloween season.
Reservations are required. Call 281-474-2551.
$8 for member, $10 for non-members (2 and under free)
The nature center requests that you not wear a costume.
