Stone Mountain Park offers beautiful running trails.

If you're looking for a scenic escape, Stone Mountain Park trails offer a beautiful setting with a variety of distances and incline levels to suit every runner. Though the $8 parking fee may seem a bit steep, it's well-worth it for a peaceful escape from the city, amidst the mountain views and serene lakes.

There are 15 miles of nature trails at Stone Mountain, with something for every running level. For beginning runners or a relaxing, low intensity run, you can take one of the trails circling the mountain and get in some rolling hills without the intensity of climbing the actual mountain. Take the running trails along the roadways or strike out on one of the wooded paths, but either way, there are beautiful views to enjoy.

For a challenging hill workout, take the 1.3-mile trail to the top of Stone Mountain. The steep incline will offer a great test of strength and endurance for even the most seasoned runners. At the top of the mountain, you'll be rewarded with breathtaking views of the park and Atlanta.
