On Saturday, October 24, Baptist Medical Center South, located off Old St. Augustine Road in Jacksonville, will hold their "Safe Sitter" Class for 11- to 14-year-olds, designed to teach them how to be a safe and successful babysitter.

This is not a light "introduction to babysitting course" to keep kids busy. It's a serious opportunity to see work expectations, prepare for emergencies and give helpful entertainment tips.

From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. (lunch included) your pre-teen sons and daughters will learn choking rescue techniques for infants and children, contact procedures for emergency providers including 911, fire safety and poison-control information.

Whether your child is interested in learning how to be a "mothers helper" or is preparing for babysitting duties with a sibling or neighbor, this program focuses on comprehensive information and realistic situations regarding responsible childcare.

A training manual and certificate of course completion are included at the end of the course.

Registration is required at a cost of $40 and by calling 904-202-2273. Seats are limited and fill up quickly!
