Denver wakes up to a bit of a damp Saturday today after storms moved through the area late Friday afternoon and into the evening. Today looks to be quite similar as there is a lot of moisture in the atmosphere. There will remain a slight chance of showers during the morning hours as we remain cloudy and overcast.
As the afternoon arrives, those thunderstorms will likely start building again and the chance for showers increases. Areas of rain could be heavy at times and that may lead to some minor small stream and urban flooding. There is enough instability in the atmosphere that we could even see a landspout (short-lived, weak tornadoes), particularly east of the metro area.
Sunday is shaping up to be the best day of the Memorial Day weekend as temperatures return to the mid-70’s. However, there is the continued presence of a chance of showers and thunderstorms, again mainly in the afternoon hours.
For Monday, Memorial Day, a system moves in from Wyoming and temperatures will drop a bit with high temperatures right around 70. And yes, there will be the continued threat of showers and thunderstorms after noon.

Please remember: Amidst the BBQs and parties and spending time with your friends and family, please take a little bit of time out of your weekend to remember what Memorial Day is all about. Since our nation’s founding more than 230 years ago, hundreds of thousands of brave American servicemen and women have paid the ultimate sacrifice for us to enjoy our freedom – they are what this weekend is truly about. Were it not for them and our nation’s veterans our nation would not be what it is today. Say a prayer, observe a moment of silence, say thank you to a vet. Do something to recognize what the true meaning of Memorial Day is.
