With that cooling and moisture though is the chance for some severe storms this afternoon. At the current time, the National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Watch for most of the Front Range from Colorado Springs to the Wyoming border. The storms that develop this afternoon will be slow moving and have the potential for rainfaill rates in the 2 - 3 inches per hour range.
Area residents should remember this from the National Weather Service:
A FLASH FLOOD WATCH MEANS THAT FLASH FLOODING IS POSSIBLE...BUT NOT IMMINENT...WITHIN THE WATCH AREA. PEOPLE IN THE WATCH AREA SHOULD KEEP AN EYE ON THE WEATHER AND BE PREPARED FOR IMMEDIATE ACTION SHOULD HEAVY RAINS AND FLASH FLOODING OCCUR...OR IF A FLASH FLOOD WARNING IS ISSUED.
