A firecracker hot 4th of July weekend ahead!

July 3, 5:26 AM

Your 4th of July Forecast
It will be a hot one this 4th of July!
The heat is on!  Thursday we will enjoy cooler temperatures in the mid-80's but come Independence Day, be ready for the mercury to climb dramatically.

The 4th of July will be a great day for BBQs and Independence Day celebrations but it will be firecracker hot.  Look for temperatures to hit the mid 90's on Friday and Saturday with plenty of sun.  Sunday things will cool down just a touch and we will "only" get to 90.  As always there is the chance for isolated thunderstorms across the weekend but those should be pretty widespread and Friday night should be beautiful for watching fireworks.

If you are looking for something very special to see this weekend, head north to Thornton and check out the Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall.  This 3/5 scale replica of the Vietnam War Memorial in Washington D.C. is a sight to be seen.  The Thornton Veterans Memorial Foundation has planned an entire weekend of events to honor not only the men and women who have paid the ultimate sacrifice for this nation but all veterans as well.  Our People Examiner recently wrote an extraordinary piece on just what this memorial means to one local resident and it really serves to drive everything home.

Have a happy and safe 4th of July!  Happy birthday, America!
