If you like it hot, Wednesday is your day!

Denver reached an official high of 96 on Tuesday and we will end our latest hot spell Wednesday but it has the potential to be the hottest day of the year thus far with a high expected near 97.  As is typical this time of year, lots of sun and a bit of haze will be the hightlights for the day.

The good news is though that we should get a much needed break from the heat Thursday and Friday.  Thursday we cool down to the mid-80's accompanied by a good chance for thunderstorms.  These will be a bit scattered but could be severe for brief periods of time thus raising the danger of some flash flooding.  Friday temps remain about the same and the chance of thunderstorms decreases a bit.

Heading into the weekend and beyond we will see a return to temps in the upper 80's / low 90's.

Stay cool!
