A bit of a cool down for the weekend ahead

June 27, 11:20 AM

This weekend we'll break the recent warming trend and finally cool down a bit.

Chance for thunderstorms.Friday we will hit 87 degrees and have the usual 10% chance of thunderstorms over the Front Range.  A few of these storms could bring hail and damaging winds across the Front Range, primarily to the south and east.  The plains could get hit with some decent thunderstorms in particular, even a tornado or two.

Mostly cloudy SaturdaySaturday the heat finally takes a break as a cold front moves in.  Denver will be mostly cloudy with a very comfortable high of 80 degrees.

Sunny on SundaySunday the sun returns and we will see a high of 86.  Heading into next week we continue to warm up a bit with temperatures in the upper 80's as we head toward Independence Day.
